Aggreg8 has a great knowledge-aggregation model. The downside - but really, is it really one? - is that a Windows Live ID is required to sign up and sign in, but who doesn't have one of those anyhow.

EOL will be a collaborative endeavour in the field of life sciences, a global project created and maintained by scientists with expertise, giving this encyclopedia added authority. The content will originate from various sources, "mashed up" resources creating one titanesque life science encyclopia.


 


So how is this different from Wikipedia.org? Well, what gives this project its clout is the fact that information will be authenticated by scientists, something missing from the giant people-powered encyclopedia. And then there is the design... Look at EOL, it is gorgeous, and if the interface looks remotely close to what is shown in the video, we will be in for a treat each time we do a research on species that inhabit the earth.
