A great idea by Microsoft Technet (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx) and Culminis, a non-profit involved in the growth of the IT community. Aggreg8 is a social networking and collaborative universe where IT professionals can meet, exchange and build their network of trusted IT collaborators, friends, opportunity providers. Problem-solving is also an integral of this social network, with working groups collaborating on issues requiring IT expertise. The knowledge-building potential is promising, especially for IT students, who can build their knowledge and develop early relationships in the industry, and create their own working group. Users may collaborate within existing working groups or in private groups.
Aggreg8 has a great knowledge-aggregation model. The downside - but really, is it really one? - is that a Windows Live ID is required to sign up and sign in, but who doesn't have one of those anyhow.
